During your time with us, you will not only be representing yourself and Face Of Europe Ltd, but your country too. In addition, many young girls and boys visiting the resort will not only be looking up to the ‘grown ups’ but also to you as ‘princesses’. It is therefore vital that your composure during the time with us from 18th-23rd November 2012 is mature, sensible and as a role model to others.
The following code of conduct should be printed, read and signed & returned to us no later than 1st October 2012. Under 18s must have this signed by a parent/guardian.
All finalists must have returned these rules or you will be prevented from competing in the competition.
Should you be found to have not complied with any of these rules, you may be disqualified from the contest.
A. General Rules of Entry
A1. Contestants must be between the ages of 6-30 years old on 1st November 2012. Photographic ID will be checked as all finalists will be required to have a passport to travel and therefore have this in their possession.
A2. Contestants must be natural born females.
A3. Contestants under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a full paying female adult for the duration of the trip. Male chaperones are welcome to attend but will be required to pay a single room supplement fee of £150 (GBP).
A4. Must NOT have posed nude or topless, or for implied nude shots for any photographs or film in any capacity
whatsoever.
A5.There must be nothing in your background that could bring the contest or its sponsors into disrepute.
A6. Any criminal records must be declared to Face Of Europe Ltd, and it will be at the discretion of the Directors if you should be allowed to continue in the contest. This does not include parking fines.
A7. Must be a resident in Europe, originate from the continent of Europe, or be of European Heritage.
A8. You are also responsible for your own personal travel insurance and necessary visa documentation if applicable.
A9. No serving UK carnival Queen or Princess can enter the Face Of Europe until their end of reign.
A10. All sponsorship fees/entry fees, text votes costs, Disney trip for guests and tickets are non refundable.
A11.Should you be found to have broken any of the above rules, you will be removed from the competition.
A12. No refunds will be given for any monies already paid. Should you be disqualified, and have associated parties and sponsors requiring a refund, this will be at your own personal expense and not the responsibility of Face Of Europe Ltd.
A13. Should you fail to attend on the specified date and times for any reason, you will not be entitled to a refund of any monies paid in relation to the contest. If the cost of your trip was covered by a sponsor or license holder, they reserve the right to recover their expenses from yourself and this will not be the responsibility of Face Of Europe Ltd.
A14. You must be available from 18th-23rd November 2012.
A15. Finalists must have a valid passport to travel for the contest.
B. Code of conduct
B1. Contestants of all ages should not be drinking alcohol or smoking whilst wearing their sash, tiaras, or anything else symbolic of the contest throughout the contest dates, with the exception of meal times and the welcome party for over 18s only and in moderate amounts. This includes all dates from 5th-9th December 2011.
B2. Consumption of illegal substances is strictly prohibited during the contest dates.
B3. All contestants should remain polite and courteous to others throughout their time at in the competition. Foul language should not be used, especially whilst on the resort. Judges will be present throughout the competition dates. The names of the judges will not be revealed until the night of the contest. Misbehaviour and bad manners may be noted at any time and could be used in the overall scores.
B4. All finalists will be given a copy of the itinerary for the duration of the contest. It is the contestant or their guardians responsibility to ensure all meeting times are adhered to. Face Of Europe Ltd cannot be held responsible should you miss an activity, transportation or meal due to lateness. This also applies to transport times for coach/ferry trips or any other means of transport. Should you miss the meeting/departure time, it will be your own responsibility to arrange alternative means of transport at your own expense. In circumstance that the coach should depart with your belongings on board, it is again your responsibility to arrange collection of these items and Face Of Europe Ltd will not be responsible for any costs or administration involved in doing so.
B5. Your belongings are your own responsibility, and if left unattended at any point this is at your own risk. You are responsible for arranging any travel insurance to cover loss or damage to your belongings at your own expense.
B6. Contestants proved to have deliberately damaged, stolen, or hindering another contestants belongings will be instantly disqualified from the competition. In the same light, any contestant making false allegations about another finalist carrying out this act will also face disqualification.
B7. Statements to the press or online statements including on social network sites, deliberately slandering or making false allegations about the contest, it’s finalists, sponsors, judges, staff, directors or any other associated party will be taken seriously and legal action taken where necessary.
B8. Attempts to corrupt the contest, staff or judges and bribery or blackmail either from a contestant, their sponsors of associated guests will be reported and may result in disqualification from the contest.
B9. All outfits required for the contest are your own responsibility, including transport, care and purchase. Failure to bring the correct outfits may mean your will not be able to participate in that particular round and therefore not judged in that category. You are also responsible for bringing your own travel iron and European plug adaptors to ensure your outfits are in good presentation for the contest.
B10. Failure to take part in the contest due to injury, sickness or any other reason whatsoever, will unfortunately not be reason for either full or partial refund on any costs incurred.
B11. Complaints about accommodation or food should first be reported to the Face Of Europe Ltd staff before raising with Disneyland Resort Paris, or Travel Adventures. All complaints will be listened to and necessary action taken.
B12. All rooms both at the Burstin Hotel in Folkestone and Disneyland Paris, are shared accommodation. All rooms in Disneyland consist of 2 double beds. Therefore, senior contestants will be sharing with one other senior contestant. Junior and teen contestants will be in a room with one other teen/junior contestant and female guardian, meaning you will be required to share a bed with your guardian. Private rooms are available for an additional supplement cost. Contestants will be informed of who they will be sharing with on arrival at the hotel and this decision is final. If senior contestants have an accompanying adult such as friend/family member/partner, who they have requested to share accommodation with, this booking will remain as such and again cannot be altered after 1st November 2011. If there is any valid reason for not sharing with a particular finalist, please make your reasons known to Face Of Europe Ltd on or before 1st November 2011 to make your reasons known.
B13. Finalists will be responsible for providing suitable clothing for cold/wet weather whilst in the resort and must make provisions for all weather types.
B14. Only meals stated in the contestant itinerary are included. Any meals not listed will need to be provided by the finalist and cover their own costs.
B15. Personal spending money for the duration of the contest is not provided and is your own responsibility.
B16. Rehearsal time whilst at the Disneyland Resort Paris is very limited. Tutorial videos of the routines you will need to perform on stage will be posted on YouTube and link sent to all finalists via email. It is the responsibility of each finalist or their guardian, to ensure they have watched and rehearsed these routines in your own time ahead of the competition. Failure to do so may hinder your performance and therefore overall score. There is no dance routine in the final.
B17. All finalists are asked to raise a minimum of £50 (GBP) for our chosen charities, either through fundraising events, sponsorships or sponsored activities. This should be transferred to Face Of Europe Ltd in cleared funds no later than 30th October 2012. There will be an award for the finalist who raises the highest amount.
B18. All finalists are asked to bring a souvenir gift from their region/country to be added to our raffle prizes, with all funds raised going to our charities.
B19. All finalists agree to either send a video or photos and description of their talent by 10th October 2012. A small number of finalists will be selected from these entries to perform their talent on stage for additional awards.
B20. Finalists agree to be judged on composure throughout the week, conversational skills and interaction with others, beauty and overall appearance, stage presence, confidence, speech on stage, posture and elegance.
B21. All finalists and guardians of finalists agree for photographs, interviews and video imagery of them to be used by Face Of Europe Ltd for promotional purposes for an indefinite period.
B22. Finalists understand that electrical plug sockets will not be available backstage at the grand final. Finalists are responsible for bringing alternative hair styling tools
B23. Finalists should not bring counterfeit goods or fake designer items with them, or any other illegal items/substances to France. Should any finalists/guardian be stopped and retained by customs and/or French authorities, this is the responsibility of the finalist/guardian and not Face Of Europe Ltd and failure to compete in the contest for this reason will not be valid reason for any refund whatsoever and alternative travel/accommodation arrangements will have to be made at the expense of the finalist/guardian and not in any way the responsibility of Face Of Europe Ltd.
B24. Face Of Europe Ltd are not responsible for any loss of luggage or personal items. Relevant insurance for such incident is your own responsibility.
B25. Finalists are responsible for their own time keeping during the contest and must bring the necessary devices for doing so.
B26. English is the spoken language of the Face Of Europe contest. Any finalists who do not have a good level of understanding or dialogue in English must arrange for their own translator to be present throughout the competition at their own expense.
B27. Face Of Europe Ltd reserve the right to alter any timings noted in the contest itinerary. Any such changes will be made clear to finalists.
B28. Finalists agree to notify Face Of Europe Ltd of any changes of address, telephone number or email address in the lead up to the contest and for the period following their participation up to the point when a new title holder for their region/country is selected. After which any changes would be out of courtesy for future events and involvement.
B29. The main form of contact in the led up to the competition will be via email. Finalists/guardians agree to check their email account on a regular basis to ensure they are aware of any changes and updates.
B30. The judges decisions are final.
B31. Finalists agree to provide up to date profile information for use on our website and confirm they have permission to use any photographs submitted for use on the website. All finalists also agree for this information to be used as part of the judging process if necessary.
B32. If your own arrangements have been made for hotel and travel, these are entirely of your own responsibility and rules stated in this document in relation to travel or accommodation do not apply.
B33. Should you choose to travel to the city centre in Paris in your free time, this is your own responsibility and at your own cost.
B34. Any bookings for hair styling, and/or make up are bookable via Face Of Europe Ltd but at your own discretion. Any allergic reactions or dissatisfaction with the overall appearance of your styling will not be the liability of Face Of Europe Ltd and no claim in relation to such event can be made. It is the finalists choice as to whether they do their own styling or use the staff available.
B35. Tickets for Disneyland Park and Disney Studios entry should not be used for any other day except 21st and 23rd November, unless purchasing a ticket for 6th at your own expense for leisure time. Tickets included in the package are non transferable and should not be sold on under any circumstances. Finalists are responsible for their own tickets and should they be lost once in their possession will need to be replaced at the expense of the finalist/guardian and not the responsibility of Face Of Europe Ltd. These terms also apply for the Buffalo Bills Wild West Show on 20th November.
B36. Any items charged to your room are your own responsibility and at your own expense. This must be settled with the hotel by the individuals responsible before departure.
B37. Any costs/fines incurred for damage to any items or furnishings in your room are to be covered at your own expense. Any finalists found to have damaged property in their hotel room will be disqualified from the competition.
B38. Should a finalist or a guardian of a finalist become disruptive to others, or deemed to have behaved in a manner of gross misconduct, Face Of Europe Ltd, Disneyland Resort Paris and/or The Travel Adventure Ltd reserve the right to withdraw provisions of any accommodation, travel and activities from that contestant and result in instant dismissal from the contest. Any costs involved in finding alternative accommodation or transportation will be at the expense of the contestant/contestants guardian and no refunds on any monies paid will be possible. Guests attending in support of a finalists behaving in such a manner may also be removed from the premises and the same terms will apply. Matters of Gross Misconduct include, but are not restricted to; verbal/aggressive/violent behaviour towards others, drunken disorderly, bribery/blackmail of judges, sponsors, staff or other contestants.
B39. Contestants must have permission in writing from Face Of Europe Ltd for any use whatsoever of the official crown, sashes, and clothing or any use of the Face Of Europe logo. Contestants ares strictly prohibited from wearing the Face Of Europe crown with any other sash other than the Face Of Europe sash. Any unauthorised use may result in legal action being taken. Photos or video footage of any authorised use, must be provided to Face Of Europe Ltd.
C. Winners Contract
C1. The winners of Face Of Europe, Teen Face Of Europe and Junior Face Of Europe, agree to uphold their title until another winner has been selected.
C2. Should any rules be found to have been broken either before or after the grand finals, this may result in force of resignation and a penalty fine will apply at the discretion of Face Of Europe Ltd
C3. Winners are allowed to compete in other pageants, providing that the other contest/pageant does not refrain them from holding another title.
C4. Resignation as Face Of Europe (including teen or Junior) for any reason will result in a penalty fine of £1200 (GBP). Any prizes including sashes and crowns will have to be returned immediately, and the cost of doing so will be your own responsibility. Should a non-material prize have already been used/consumed, you will be liable to covering the cost of a replacement prize to its full value. Once resignation is made, it is irreversible.
C5. Winners agree to return to Disneyland Paris for the grand finals in 2013. The cost of this trip will be covered by Face Of Europe Ltd. This does not include an adult guardian for teens and juniors. Seniors will be responsible for costs of any companion travelling with them and may be asked to carry out duties such as crowning, photo calls and judging procedures.
C6. Winners will be invited to several events across the continent. Travel an accommodation will be provided at some of these events. Should this not be covered, it is the winners discretion whether or not to attend.
C7. Overall senior category Winner will be required to spend a minimum of 10 days with the directors in the UK for appearances, promotional activities and events. These may be in blocks of 2-5 days and accommodation, meals and travel will be provided for these events.
C8. Events and appearances are unpaid unless otherwise stated. Paid events/appearances/work will be subject to a 20% agent fee payable to Face Of Europe Ltd.
C9. Prizes must be collected/consumed in the specified time period for each prize. Failure to do so may result forfeiting the prize.
C10. On the morning of 23rd November, all age category winners will be required to attend a photo shoot in the Disneyland Park with our photographer.
C11. Winners/winners guardians are responsible in ensuring they have a valid passport to travel for the duration of their reign.
D. Competition Cancellation
D1. Should the competition be cancelled for any reason outside of Face Of Europe Ltd, Travel Adventures Ltd or Disneyland Resort Paris control, such as acts of god, fire, adverse weather, refunds for absolutely any costs incurred whatsoever are not available in either partial or full refund.
D2. Prevention of travel to the Disneyland Paris Resort due to such events as acts of god, fire, adverse weather, hurricane, earthquake, terrorism attack, flooding, volcano, will result in cancellation of the competition. The contest will not be postponed and instead a selection via written application, photographs and telephone interviews will determine the winners for 2012 and prizes will still be issued in this circumstance.
D3. Should any fees due in relation to the contest, including full payment of accompanying legal guardian not be paid in full by 1st November, you will forfeit your place in the competition and any prizes given including sashes and tiara must be returned to Face Of Europe Ltd.
D4. Face Of Europe Ltd reserve the right to add or amend these terms at any time. Finalists will be notified of any such changes as and when they occur. Any changes will be with immediate effect.
D5. Should the competition be cancelled due to force majeure, meaning any event or condition, not existing as of the date of this Agreement, not reasonably foreseeable as of such date and not reasonably within the control of either party, which prevents in whole or in material part the performance by a party of its obligations hereunder (other than the obligation to make any payment of money due or owing) or which renders the performance of such obligations so difficult or costly as to make such performance commercially unreasonable. Without limiting the foregoing, the following will constitute events or conditions of Force Majeure: acts of God, acts of civil or military authority, state or governmental action, embargoes, epidemics, war, terrorist acts, riots, insurrections, fires, explosions, earthquakes, nuclear accidents, floods, power blackouts, prolonged shortage of energy supplies, volcanic action, strikes, lock-out, slowdowns, trade dispute or labour disturbance, acts of highways authorities, or any other major environmental disturbances, unusually severe weather conditions, acts or omissions of third parties beyond the control of the parties hereto.
D6. Insurance and travel documents:- Contestants, chaperones and travelling guests are responsible for their own Medical and Travel Insurance and also application/applying for relevant E11 forms and any valid travel documents including Passport, Visa (Where applicable). No responsibility for non compliance, loss or theft will not be accepted by the Face of Europe or any other company associated with the contest. If you are stopped or refused permission to travel by the HMC & E, immigration or any other authority no responsibility or refunds will be given due to delayed or non travel. Should alternative travel arrangements need to be made due to any delays connected to any of the above, full responsibility for any costs would be the fully borne by the traveller.
E. Acknowledgement and Agreement
Please print, read, and sign the full content of this document to be received by Face Of Europe Ltd no later than 1st October 2012. Please retain one copy for your own records.
For contestants under the age of 18, it is the responsibility of the legal guardian signing this document to ensure all rules and requirements are understood by the finalist and adhered to.
